Privacy Policy

Who we are

Stonelore is operated by Stonelore Inc, the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, write to legal@stonelore.org.

What we collect

• Photographs you upload or capture, sent to our AI provider to identify the structure and generate a story.
• Stories you choose to save, including the photo, the generated text, the language and the narrator you selected.
• Purchase details when you buy a plan: name, email address, phone number, billing address and country, plus the payment reference from our payment provider.
• GPS trail data if you use the Trail feature — recorded on your device only, and never transmitted to us unless you export and send it yourself.
• Your approximate country, detected at checkout so we can determine whether we may sell to you and apply the correct tax.
• Plan status and narration usage counts, stored in your browser's local storage on the device you use.

What we do not collect

• Card numbers. Payments are processed entirely by our payment provider; we never see or store card details.
• Advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers. We do not run third-party ad or analytics trackers.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To generate and deliver narrations and articles you request — performance of our contract with you.
• To take payment, prevent fraud and meet tax obligations — contract and legal obligation.
• To make saved stories available at the share link you create — your consent, given when you press save.
• To keep accounting records — legal obligation.

Sharing

We share data only with the processors needed to run the service: our AI provider (to generate narration text and audio from your photo), our payment provider (to take payment and handle tax and disputes), and our hosting and database provider (to store saved stories and purchase records). We do not sell personal data.

Public share links

When you save a story, we create a link with an unguessable address. Anyone holding that link can view the story and its photograph. Do not save photographs you would not want shared. Email us to have a saved story removed.

How long we keep it

• Purchase records: 7 years, to satisfy tax and accounting requirements.
• Saved stories: until you ask us to delete them.
• GPS trails and usage counts: on your device until you clear them or clear your browser storage.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the UK and EU GDPR and under California law — you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of processing, and you may object to processing or withdraw consent. We do not discriminate against anyone who exercises these rights. Email legal@stonelore.org and we will respond within the period the law allows. Because Stonelore has no user accounts, please write from the email address used at checkout, or include the share link of the story concerned, so we can locate your data. EU and UK users also have the right to complain to their local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by the standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard offered by that provider.

Children

Stonelore is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date shown above.
